Until a few years ago, the Confluence district was a former industrial wasteland in the far south of the city, best known for its wholesale market, the Rambaud industrial port and the former Saint-Paul prison. But since the 2000s, this district has undergone an incredible rehabilitation to become the city's newest and most futuristic. An experimental district at the cutting edge of ecology, this eco-neighbourhood combines bold architecture with sustainable development. And some of the great names in international architecture have left their mark here: the headquarters of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Regional Council by Christian de Portzamparc, rental housing by Massimiliano Fuksas, the orange cube or the green cube, headquarters of Euronews, by Jakob + MacFarlane, and more. These are just some of the architectural achievements that give this district its distinctive character. At Confluence, futuristic buildings, shops, homes and offices all blend together, along with numerous green spaces, parks and gardens. There are also cultural and entertainment venues, such as La Sucrière, with its many cultural events, and Docks 40, where you can go out for a drink.
16h30: Guided tour of the Musée des Confluences (1h or 1h30)
Discover the building and the four rooms of the permanent tour with a museum mediator, and learn about the architecture and philosophy of the museum: bringing together different disciplines and different points of view.
17:30-18:00 : End the tour at the Painted Wall of Famous Lyonnais. Road back to Cité International.
