14:30 : Guided tour of “Croix Rousse ”
Guided tour of the Croix Rousse district, right in the heart of the weavers' quarter. Discover the silk workers' quarter and the famous traboules of the Croix Rousse.16:30 : Enter the heart of the Maison des Canuts workshop, and discover Jacquard's invention through a demonstration of handloom weaving. Warp yarns, weft yarns, shuttles, bobbins, cardboard, mechanics... Starting with the design and ending with the fabric, the guide explains the various steps involved in weaving an exceptional silk. The preparation of the loom and Jacquard mechanics will hold no secrets for you.
Then admire the different fabrics woven by master weavers of gold, silver and silk threads, such as brocaded, chased velvet and brocade. The tour continues in the conference room, where the guide traces the evolution of Lyon's silk industry from 1536 to the present day, not forgetting of course the social contribution of the canuts and their revolts.
17:30 : End the tour at the Painted Wall of Famous Lyonnais. Road back to Cité International.
