A typical village in the heart of the Beaujolais des Pierres Dorées Perched in southern Beaujolais, 30 minutes from Lyon, Oingt is the only village in the Rhône department to hold the “Most Beautiful Villages of France” designation. It is therefore with pride that the village of Oingt overlooks the Azergues Valley and the surrounding hills. From the top of the Donjon tower, you can almost touch the vineyard landscapes with a 360° panorama that allows you to gaze upon the Beaujolais hills and the Lyonnais hills. On a clear day, it’s not uncommon to spot the Jura, the Alps stretching all the way to Mont Ventoux and Mont Blanc. A medieval fortress, the seigneury of Oingt is said to be the oldest in the region. Until the 19th century, the houses were built in succession using the same ochre-colored limestone: the “golden stone.”
11:30 AM: Welcome at a vineyard in Oingt, followed by a tour of the vineyards and the winery, and a tasting of 5 wines paired with a farm-style lunch.

1:30 PM: Drive to a wine estate.
2:30 PM: Tour of Château de Nevers* (1.5 hours).
The experience begins outdoors: on the château’s terrace, with a view of Mont Blanc, weather permitting. You’ll learn about the Beaujolais wine region, the history of the estate, and the work involved in viticulture. Then you’ll head down below the château and immerse yourself in the estate’s winemaking world: the wine cellar and the fermentation room.
Finally, you will taste three vintages in the large tasting cellar.

4:00 PM: End of the tour, free time for shopping, and return trip to Lyon.
